Love Story

I would never would’ve met Tram if it weren’t for a youth group that she and I were in. I was from Toronto, she was from Calgary. In 2005, our youth group had a national conference at the UofC in Calgary. We didn’t actually meet at this conference nor did we meet after the conference.

After the conference a bunch of youths from our group hung out at Chinook mall. Behind the info booth where the T-Rex skeleton stands is where I first laid eyes on her. I had a camcorder in-hand which I creepily used 4x optical zoom to get a better look. Hehe. Her cuteness overwhelmed my senses. I started asking my friends if they knew her and if they knew her name. They told me her name was “Tram Tran”. I’ll admit, I giggled when I heard her name. But a name like that only amplified the cuteness that I saw in her. We were all by that T-Rex skeleton because we were all trying to figure out where to go afterwards. I made it a point to go wherever this Tram Tran was going.

We decided on a steakhouse called “Smuggler’s Inn”. Unfortunately, due to the order that everyone arrived, we both ended up sitting at opposite sides of a very long table (thank God 4x optical zoom, lol). It was a fun time, but little did anyone know that all I wanted to do was meet her. I wanted to hear her voice and make her laugh. As we all made our way out of the restaurant I thought to myself, “nice, this is my chance!”. But much to my disappointment, her ride was waiting for her outside asking her to hurry out. She made a quick dash out of the restaurant with her head down and without saying bye to almost everyone. I found it odd that she did this but for some odd reason I thought it was super cute, and the mystery of her would linger in my heart.
